WHY I WRITE WORDS DOWN // also win a go teen writers book

February 4, 2017
for the longest time as a kid, I declared that I was a writer. I said it made me felt free, that it was what i LOVED doing, basically that I was going to live my life doing it. Like John-Boy Walton, but different, cuz I'm a girl.

Then, I hit twelve years of age. I got busy - but something else happened. I guess I became self conscious and decided my writing wasn't good enough. I attempted a little something once I hit fourteen, but nothing happened, so I thought I had forgotten how to write.

I did start my blog tho sometime in there! It was actually really hard at first for me - I wanted to post the thousand pinterest pins I thought were cool, until Jess (STILL LIKE THANK YOU GIRL) told me to "write what you do. Just tell me about it!" so I did - and have been ever since.

Sarah got me into Camp Nano last July, which was ammaazzing! I started "for who he was" and finished it after an attempt at NaNoWriMo at the end of November 2016. It's now a legit book sitting on my shelf.

Poetry happened upon me last summer, as well. I had this urgent urge for a week at least to write a poem about my siblings and it happened one morning - and now, I can't stop. my poetry blog is still flowing and now EEEPPPP I'm working on publishing them as well. xD

but you see, books surround my life. actually WORDS DO. I end the day reading my Bible and a few chapters in a book, my morning is spent doing school, I read A LOT of children's books to my sibs, text friends, write blogposts, listen to music and talk, journal, scribble aimlessly, write poetry --- basically IT DOESNT STOP.

and I can't.

and I don't want to.

bc someday I'm going to be that old lady with a house with more books than clothes - more notebooks than plates, etc. Just no cats for me lol!

also

I JUST GOT A NEW IDEA FOR A NOVEL AND I THINK IM GOING TO USE IT FOR CAMP APRIL NANO SO EEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP LEGIT *goes off to plot bc i feel this*

  3. If my floor was ever littered with that many books, my parents would take them all away for a weekend. xD I used to be super antisocial (because people downright terrified me) and if I talked, I stuttered a lot. Writing was my way of getting the words out when my voice can't.

I'm entering that giveaway! But first, I need to go perform my poetry.

    xoxo Morning

    2. LOL, sadly I can't post a lot of my writing online anymore. I actually wrote a post about it on my blog today as to why (and why that refers to mainly two pieces, it also applies to everything else).

  5. (is that your desk in the first picture? omg, it's so cute!)

I guess I write because I can't stop either :P When I feel exhausted and worn out one of the first things that comes to mind is writing. Editing that novel. Plotting my next manuscript. Writing "lame" poetry (I'm so not a poet. lol XD). Journaling. Just...writing. It feels so freeing and I can get all my thoughts down. Sometimes I even write my prayers!

    Beautiful post. <3

  9. Well, I could comment about how I don't write novels or anything, but I understand the fact that words touch almost all of life, and writing, at least in my journal, is one if those things that I truly don't think I could do without.
But actually, I'm just commenting because I was reading through your post and the comments and saw again your promise of a virtual ice cream cone for every comment.
And I thought, wouldn't it be awesome if somehow it could be real ice cream?!?!?!
And then I thought... actually, that would be bad for you, because you'd have to buy ice cream for me at about 3 o'clock every day, and that would be expensive for you.
    *really wants ice cream now*

and wow Bri the award goes to you for the most random and funny thought ever

    2. I have very vivid stories in my head... but I can't get them out. Maybe I'm scared they aren't as beautiful as I see them, maybe I'm worried other people won't be able to see what I see... maybe, and I think it may be, that I just can't stand to see them written out and no longer be able to dream them out. So I settle for writing every minuscule detail that happens in my life :).
YOU WOULD DO IT TOO, now I don't feel as bad for that thought of using you, hahahahaha!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! That's awesome! Haha! Where can I print my certificate from ;)?
*still hasn't had a bowl, just two spoons, and I still want ice cream*

  10. So, I have just been waiting for you to ask this question! ;)
Why do I write? Well, I try to always write for God's glory alone, but other times it helps me clear my mind, get my creativity down on paper (more like electric paper), and to express myself. It's a talent that God has given me and I really, really enjoy it.
Oh my goodness gracious that poem is my Shell Silverstein! I love his poems, I have almost all of his books!

  11. Writing is my life.

I'm so happy I finally decided to take the plunge and try it . . . for the longest time, I held back because I was so afraid the stories in my head wouldn't be "good enough." But one day, two summers ago, I threw all that out the window and just started writing some stuff down. And I've never stopped since. IT'S WAY TOO MUCH FUN.

One day we will alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll be famous authors and we can all get together and flail and fangirl and scream over each other's books. It's gonna happen. I feel it in my bones.

  12. Ack YES FOR CAMP NANO. I've got a cabin of great buddies half planned out for this year again, and it's going to be SOOO MUCH FUN. I did it for the first time last April and it COMPLETELY changed my writing. And now after winning April, July and actual NaNo I'm so insanely faster and more confident and better in general that it's crazy amazing.
